Day 1: Old Town Heritage & Food Trail (Liwan & Yuexiu)

Morning

Arrive in Guangzhou, check in at a hotel near Beijing Road or Liwan District. Head straight to Chen Clan Ancestral Hall (Chen Jia Ci)—a masterpiece of Lingnan architecture famous for its exquisite wood carvings, stone carvings, brick carvings and plaster decorations. Rent an audio guide to learn about the stories behind the artworks.

Then walk to Yongqing Fang, a renovated old Xiguan street. You can visit the former residence of Bruce Lee, experience intangible cultural heritage crafts such as Cantonese embroidery and olive carving, and enjoy local Cantonese rice noodles and pork congee for lunch nearby.

AfternoonStroll through Shamian Island—a former concession area lined with well-preserved European-style buildings, churches and lush trees, ideal for photography. Then visit the grand Sacred Heart Cathedral (Stone Chamber Church), one of the four all-stone Gothic cathedrals in the world.

EveningWander Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, where the glass-floored Millennium Ancient Road ruins showcase layers of Guangzhou’s history. Dine on classic Cantonese dishes like roasted goose and salt-baked chicken, and end with a bowl of silky double-skin milk at a local dessert shop.

Day 2: Modern Landmarks & Pearl River Night Cruise

Morning

Start with a traditional Cantonese morning tea at a renowned restaurant like Guangzhou Restaurant or Dim Sum King—don’t miss shrimp dumplings, rice rolls, barbecued pork buns and egg tarts. After breakfast, head to Flower City Square to admire the modern skyline, including the East and West Towers. Visit the Guangdong Museum to learn about Lingnan’s history, art and natural resources.

Afternoon, walk to the iconic Canton Tower (Xiaoman Yao). Take the Ferris wheel at 450 meters or challenge the 488-meter Skywalk for panoramic city views. The golden hour before sunset is the best time for photos.

EveningTake a Pearl River Night Cruise from Tianzi Wharf or Haixinsha. Enjoy the sparkling lights of the Canton Tower, Liede Bridge and the riverside skyscrapers, accompanied by light shows and live music on board.

Day 3: Nature Escape & City Panorama

Morning

Travel to Baiyun Mountain, known as the “Green Lung of Guangzhou”. You can take a cable car or hike up the mountain trails. At the top, the Moxing Ridge offers a sweeping view of the entire city. Visit the scenic Yun Lake and ancient temples along the way.

AfternoonHead to Yuexiu Park, home to the Five-Goat Statue—the symbol of Guangzhou. Climb the Zhenhai Tower (Guangzhou Museum) to see cultural relics from different dynasties. Relax in the park’s gardens and lakes.

Evening

Return to the city center and try Cantonese hot pot or seafood dinner. For a more casual vibe, explore the food stalls at Xihua Road—a paradise for street food lovers.

Day 4: Cultural Immersion & Art Scene

Morning

Visit the Nanyue King Museum to explore the 2,000-year-old tomb of the Nanyue King and his precious cultural relics, including gold seals, jade burial suits and bronze vessels. It’s a window into the ancient Lingnan civilization.

AfternoonExplore Dongshankou, a historic district with colonial-style mansions, tree-lined streets and trendy cafes, boutiques and art galleries. Later, head to the 798-like Guangzhou 53 Art Zone or Redtory Art District to see contemporary art exhibitions, street art and design studios.

Evening

Catch a Cantonese opera performance or a modern music show at a local theater. Alternatively, relax in a rooftop bar in Sanlitun or Zhujiang New Town with city skyline views.

Day 5: Leisure Choice & Departure

Morning

Choose your final activity based on interests:

  1. Chimelong Safari Park: Get up close to giant pandas, giraffes, tigers and other wildlife, and take a self-driving tour through the animal enclosures.

  2. Liwan Lake Park: Enjoy the Lingnan water town scenery, rent a boat, and visit the nearby Cantonese Opera Art Museum.

  3. Last-minute shopping: Buy souvenirs like Cantonese pastries, tea leaves or Lingnan-style crafts at Beijing Road or Taikoo Hui.

Afternoon

Pack your bags, check out of the hotel, and head to the airport or train station, taking with you unforgettable memories of Guangzhou’s unique blend of tradition and modernity, culture and cuisine.

✨ Pro Tips

  1. Best time to visit: Autumn (September–November) with mild temperatures and less rain. Spring (March–May) is also pleasant with blooming flowers.

  2. Transportation: Use the convenient metro system (download the Yangcheng Tong app for easy payment) or ride-hailing services. For short distances in the old town, walking or cycling is a great way to soak up the atmosphere.

  3. Customization: We can tailor this itinerary to your preferences—add a tea ceremony class, a food tour with a local guide, or extend your stay at Chimelong for more fun.
